Royal Canin MINI Babydog 30 - Weaning can be a stressful period for very young puppies. Proper nutrition is critical to a good start and is key to making that transition as easy as possible.

The Term “MINI” includes dogs weighing from one to 20 pounds when adult. Most of them were originally bred as hunting dogs but have now become popular pets. Their small size and their lively energetic character certainly explains their increasing success: they now account for approximately 35% of the American dog population.

Terriers and Dachshunds are skilled hunting dogs that have adapted well to city life, if they can get out frequently and use as much energy as they need to. The toy breeds are more suited to a sedentary lifestyle, but need careful attention, especially for their coat. Small breeds are also frequently fussy eaters.  This behavoir is accentuated by their special requirements and the fact that owners often give them treats and table scraps which can lead to poor eating habits.

Immunity Support - Complement the fragile immune system of the small breed baby dog. Between the 4th and 12th weeks, baby dogs go through a critical period. The immunity transmitted by the colostrum (first milk) gradually decreases to reach a level where it is almost undetecable after the 4th week; this is called the “immunity gap”. Mannan Oligosaccharides (yeast extracts) may help to build the baby dog's natural defenses by increasing the quantity of antibodies in a period of immune fragility and can help to promote the development of beneficial intestinal flora.

Digestive Safety - Provide for the digestive sensitivity of the small breed baby dog.  The digestive capacities of the baby dog slowly develop with age. A baby dog's ability to digest starch is only 5-10% of the adult dog.  Up to the age of three months, the digestion of the small breed baby dog is still delicate: a highly digestible food rich in proteins may help to prevent the appearance of disorders such as diarrhea. A unique combination of ingredients of mineral and vegetable origin (Chicory and Beet Pulp extracts), and a reduced starch level (less than 26%) coming purely from Rice may help to ensure maximum digestive safety.

Tiny Soft Kibble - Prepare for the fragile teeth and small jaws of the small breed baby dog. A small breed baby dog has difficulties in grasping kibbles that are too large or too hard. To help it grasp and eat, the kibbles should have a suitable shape and texture for the size of the teeth and the strength of the jaws. Kibble size and softness are suited to the milk teeth of very young dogs. Easy to rehydrate (moisten with water), the tiny kibbles facilitate an easy transition from the mother’s milk to dry food.
