General
The first Poodles appeared as early as the Middle Ages when they already had a distinctive clipping pattern, with large areas of the body cut short. The reason for such clipping was that they were used to retrieve waterfowl, and the clipping prevented them from taking on too much water in their coat and from becoming entangled on branches during the hunt.
The special physiology of the Poodle, such as its unique coat and predisposition to cataracts make it a very unusual breed that needs special attention, especially in terms of its nutrition.
A Curly Coat - Protects the Skin and Curly Clipped Coat. The Poodle's very fine, light and curly coat consists of wooly hairs and 80% secondary hairs. This means that the adult Poodle has a coat very similar to that of a puppy, but with a higher hair density. It therefore needs regular grooming. POODLE 30™ protects the skin and coat with Omega 6 and 3 essential fatty acids, sulfur-containing amino acids like Methionine and Cystine and vitamins which help to strengthen the skin barrier.
Cognitive Function - Maintain Lasting Cognitive Function. The Poodle (especially the Miniature and Toy) has one of the longest life expectancies of any breed. The last third of a Poodle's life is a sensitive period, when cognitive capacities may begin to deteriorate. An alert mind and “joy of life” will preserve health and happiness for both the Poodle and its owner. POODLE 30™ supports cognitive functioning through an antioxidant, energy-providing complex (Vitamins E & C, Taurine and Lutein) that has a protective effect against cell degeneration.
Tartar Reduction - An innovation that helps preserve dental hygiene. POODLE 30™ kibbles have this benefit: their texture has been specially designed to produce a brushing effect, reducing dental plaque formation. Their formula also includes captors, which by fixing the calcium present in the saliva, slow tartar development.
Vision - Preserve Visual Faculties Cataracts cause the eye to become opaque, so that it has a greyish-blue appearance. When cataracts affect both eyes, sight is severely damaged and there may even be complete blindness. This is a common disease in dogs over 10 years of age, and the Poodle seems particularly prone to cataract development. POODLE 30™ includes Lutein and Zeaxanthine, powerful antioxidants that combat cellular oxidation.
For Optimal Dental Hygiene - Because the Poodle has small delicate jaws, it has increased mouth and tooth sensitivity related to dental plaque deposits and tartar formation. This results in an inflammation of the gums, or even loosening of the teeth. Moreover, because poodles are long-lived, dental plaque deposition accentuates with age.
Recommended for Poodles over 10 months of age.
