About the Author –
The author’s fascination with the Boxer traces back to the heyday of Bang Away, when Richard Tomita decided that he would one day own a Boxer just like that flashy ambassador who was depicted in newspapers and magazines around the world. Rick has had Boxers all his life since he was a child. His world-famous kennel, Jacquet Boxers, since the first litter in 1972, has produced over 160 American Kennel Club Champions and over 250 known International Champions, including many foundation dogs for American and International kennels alike. Each year since 1981, Rick has been awarded the American Boxer Club’s annual award for Breeder of the Year and/or Kennel Making the Most Champions. Even more to his credit, happy, healthy Jacquet Boxers, as champions and watchdogs, warm the hearts and homes of Boxer families on six continents. Despite the many dogs who bear the Jacquet name, Rick continues to make himself available to the owners of his dogs as well as his fellow breeders for advice and encouragement.
He is the author of “A New Owner’s Guide to Boxers,” nominated by Dog Writers Association of America in 1997, as well as the first American book on the Shiba Inu, entitled “Shibas,” both published by T.F.H. With his partner William Scolnik, he owns the very successful J-B Wholesale Pet Supply, Inc. in Oakland, New Jersey.
