General
The Dachshund is the only breed to have a dedicated group within the World Canine Organization. Dachshunds come in three different sizes, with one of three different types of coat: shorthaired, longhaired and wirehaired.
The special physiology of the Dachshund, such as its characteristic body shape and very short legs make it a very unusual breed that needs special attention, especially in terms of its nutrition.
Joint Maintenance - The Dachshund is well known for sensitive joints, with very short, bowed legs. The cartilage of long bones ossifies prematurely, causing leg growth to end early. Dachshund 28™ provides support for joints and optimum irrigation of cartilage through the inclusion of chondroitin and glucosamine, and EPA/DHA which have well known anti-inflammatory properties.
Muscle Mass & Toning - Your Dachshund has vertebrae which are subjected to heavy mechanical strain on a daily basis. His popularity owes much to his characteristic body shape and very short legs. However the shorter an animal's legs, the less ability they have to absorb shock. Dachshund 28™ provides nutritional support for the backbone by helping to maintain muscle tone and optimum healthy body weight with a high protein diet that contains only 14% fat. The addition of conjugated linoleic acid helps preserve muscle tone at the expense of fatty cells and L-carnitine is added to help the body metabolize fat.
Combat Aging Effects - Because Dachshunds are so long lived, you may gradually notice some signs of aging: loss of energy, a dull coat and even the appearance of white hairs. Dachshund 28™ helps to slow the effects of aging with a synergistic complex of antioxidants which reduce oxidation stress and green tea polyphenols which have increased antioxidant properties. Dachshund 28™ also combats digestive sensitivities which are linked to aging.
For Optimal Dental Hygiene -Tartar Reduction helps maintain correct bucco-dental hygiene. DACHSHUND 28™ kibbles have a specially designed texture that produces a brushing effect which results in the reduction of dental plaque formation. DACHSHUND 28™ also includes chelating agents that slow tartar development by fixing the calcium present in the saliva.
